That, right up there, is my guitar. It’s a Fender Telecaster that has been handed down to me by my dad, who received it from my Uncle Jeff, who received it from none other than John Fogerty.
Yes, the John Fogerty.
If you’re a youngin or just completely ignorant about music, John Fogerty was a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter for Creedence Clearwater Revival. Ever heard Proud Mary or Have You Ever Seen the Rain?? What about Suzie Q? FORTUNATE SON???? How about this one?
“Put me in coach, I’m ready to play…today…look at me…I can be…CENTERFIELD“
Got it?? Ok, good. It’s about time.
So anyway, somehow his guitar made it into my hands, and I’ve been at it for a few months now. I’m learning everything from the Internets (all 3 of them) with a little help from my friends who play, and even though it’s an electric, I sort of play it like an acoustic. I like the sound I get out of it, and my dad was gracious enough to also give me a pedal and an amp.
So yeah. I’m learning to play the guitar. I have a clear vision of being on stage leading worship some day, and I don’t think it’s coincidence that I started playing or that I somehow ended up with such an awesome guitar (and story).
Stay tuned.
Literally.
p.s. Many thanks go out to Stefan who first planted the idea in my head long ago. And thanks go out to Chris who actually put a guitar in my hands and taught me my first chords.

Whew. A piece like this comes with a presence which will guide you to expertise in no time.
Kinda curious… what does Fogerty’s finger sweat smell like? Hopefully better than what I imagine his microphone to smell like.
