That, right up there, is my guitar. It’s a Fender Telecaster that has been handed down to me by my dad, who received it from my Uncle Jeff, who received it from none other than John Fogerty.

Yes, the John Fogerty.

If you’re a youngin or just completely ignorant about music, John Fogerty was a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter for Creedence Clearwater Revival. Ever heard Proud Mary or Have You Ever Seen the Rain?? What about Suzie Q? FORTUNATE SON???? How about this one?

“Put me in coach, I’m ready to play…today…look at me…I can be…CENTERFIELD

Got it?? Ok, good. It’s about time.

So anyway, somehow his guitar made it into my hands, and I’ve been at it for a few months now. I’m learning everything from the Internets (all 3 of them) with a little help from my friends who play, and even though it’s an electric, I sort of play it like an acoustic. I like the sound I get out of it, and my dad was gracious enough to also give me a pedal and an amp.

So yeah. I’m learning to play the guitar. I have a clear vision of being on stage leading worship some day, and I don’t think it’s coincidence that I started playing or that I somehow ended up with such an awesome guitar (and story).

Stay tuned.

Literally.

p.s. Many thanks go out to Stefan who first planted the idea in my head long ago.  And thanks go out to Chris who actually put a guitar in my hands and taught me my first chords.

I sometimes find myself complaining about people that I work with who complain a lot.

What does that say about me? Does that make me one of the people who I’m complaining about? I don’t know, but I do know that complaining seems to be contagious. One person starts complaining about something and it spreads like wildfire. Right now, my  coworker is complaining about having to go to the beach for our company meeting tomorrow morning. Yes, we’re having our monthly company meeting on the beach. And he’s complaining.

“What’s wrong with a conference room…grumble grumble…”

Fortunately, I don’t think anyone else shares his sentiment, but right now it’s annoying the crap out of me…and now here I am complaining to you about it.

Sigh.

I can’t wait for VACATION!!!

6.days.
