I’m a big fan of Tootsie Roll products. The kind people over at Tootsie Roll Industries are responsible for such delicious delights as Andes chocolates, Sugar Daddies, Charleston Chews, of course Tootsie Rolls, and last but not least, my favorite, the Tootsie Pop.

I have single handedly managed to clean out the Tootsie Pop box at the closest Wawa to my office to where the only flavors left are ones I wouldn’t touch with a stick…especially not a lollipop stick. The only Tootsie Pop flavor for me is red.

What’s that??

Red isn’t a flavor?

It is in my world, punk.

So anyway, there’s been a Red Tootsie Pop drought for about 2 months now, but this morning I happened to steal a glance into the box as I walked by and saw a flash of red…a beacon, if you will. Flustered and excited and just assuming that they were a red flavor I was familiar with, I grabbed a few, went up to the register and hurried back to the office.

Well, I just opened one up and as it hit my lips, I realized that it was an unfamiliar taste. I reached into my trash bin to find out what this new flavor could be, and lo and behold, it’s POMEGRANATE.

What the? What were they thinking?? Yes, it’s pretty tasty, but when will this conversation ever occur:

Mom: Ok, kids. Here are the flavors we have. Grape, Cherry, Watermelon, Raspberry, Strawberry and POMEGRANATE. Which flavor do you want?

Kids (in unison): POMEGRANATE!! POMEGRANATE!!

I mean, what exactly is a pomegranate anyway? Can kids even pronounce pomegranate? It sounds way too healthy to be a candy flavor, that’s for sure.

I guess their banking on kids not reading the label and thinking that red is a flavor…like me.

I am admittedly quite the music snob (my friends can attest to this), but every once in a while, a catchy little pop song comes along and grabs me and sucks me in. I try to fight it, but I just find myself going through radio station after radio station hoping that it comes on. Then I break down, download it and secretly listen to it all the time (sometimes on repeat 1). It comes on in public and I try stifle the insatiable urge to sing along and start to shoulder dance.

But in an effort to be more transparent, I’m going to admit something today that might shock you.

I love the song “Forever” by Chris Brown. I can’t get enough of it. I also thoroughly enjoy “No Air.”

There, I said it. I’m feeling much better, by the way.

30.30.15. starts back today. I probably lost a few pounds over the weekend anyway, but not in a good way. It seemed that all weekend long, everything on my inside wanted to be on my outside. Not fun! Hopefully next weekend will be a little bit better.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to get back to my song.
