Perhaps that saying does in fact hold some truth.

My good friends Keleigh & John, who recently got married, are settling in to their new place in Portland, Oregon. The city is right up their alley with all sorts of festivals every weekend, lots of hiking and outdoorsy activities, and plenty of granola people to befriend. Until the recent move, they were a short drive away in Philadelphia, and although I haven’t made the trek very often in the last year or so, I always knew that I could and it wouldn’t be a big deal.

And now they’ve moved across the country. They’re no longer a short drive away. A visit will require plane tickets, itineraries, and time off from work. And I know how that sort of thing goes…lots of good intentions, not a lot of action.

Kel’s been sending me pictures from their voyage out west, their new apartment, their local farmer’s market, and the latest were pictures from their wedding. It’s all very bitter sweet.

I’m not sure if you guys read my blog, but if you do, I really miss you both.
